GSA Ronald Reagan Building – Phase 3-6 Mobility Design Lab Renovations

Federal & Defense Agencies

AFG provided construction management and move management services to GSA Region 11 in order to complete significant space alterations to the Mobility Design Lab within the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, in Washington DC. Initially awarded for Phases 3 and 4, AFG later received follow on contracts to provide Construction Management services to additional floors of office space in Renovation Phases 5 and 6. Closeout of Phase 6 completed in summer of 2025.
Over the course of this 8 year project, AFG managed the interior renovation of the existing office space including new partitions, furniture, lighting, IT, AV, Security, MEP, and signage. The renovations aimed to meet LEED Silver, Commercial Interior (CI) certification. Construction was conducted over multiple phases in order to best accommodate the tenants, with the initial phases for AFG covering 57,000 square feet over two floors. Over the course of the four phases led by AFG, renovations were performed across four floors and nearly 200,000 square feet of office space. These spaces feature multiple SCIF rated spaces, highly secured conference rooms, break rooms and galleys on each floor, CISCO AV system installation, and Turf panel sound proofing within aesthetic designs to subtly reduce noise pollution within the building. The project was completed ahead of schedule.
The Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center (RRB) in Washington, DC is the second largest government building in the United States at 3.1 million square feet of office space across an 11-acre site.
