AFG Reaches Substantial Completion on GSA Reg 4 US District Courthouse Repair & Alteration Project in Pensacola, FL

AFG has recently achieved substantial completion on the GSA Region 4 US District Courthouse Repair and Alteration Project in Pensacola, Florida. The courthouse, located in downtown Pensacola, Florida, began alterations in 2018 to address ongoing water intrusion problems that have persisted since the building was constructed 20 years ago. These issues had escalated until 2015, when the building was vacated due to concerns of poor indoor air quality.

In 2018 AFG was awarded a contract to provide CMa services on what grew to become a $33.4M modernization. Under this contract, AFG provided CMa services and long-term solutions for the water intrusion. During this two-year project AFG oversaw significant interior and exterior renovations, including the installation of a Dedicated Outside Air Handler (DOAH), replacement of the original chilled water system, replacement of the exterior façade and standing seam metal roof system, and upgrades to the building’s HVAC and fire safety systems.

As part of our documentation of completion, AFG gathered footage and photography over the course of the project. AFG utilized drone technology to provide our construction team with unique insights on each phase of the construction process.

This courthouse facility serves the Northern District of Florid and includes five courtrooms and related chambers, the US District Clerk, Pretrial Service, and the Grand Jury. Additionally, there are offices for US Senator Marco Rubio, R-Fla., the Office of the US Attorney, the US Marshal Service and the General Services Administration.
