Jun 23, 2014 – New York, NY – AFG Group is honored to receive Project of the Year Award from CMAA Metro NY/NJ Chapter. The award recognizes AFG’s outstanding construction management practices, leadership, problem solving, and innovation for the Brooklyn Business Center/City Register’s Office Renovation project serving NYC Department of Finance.

AFG managed construction for an $8.8 million interior renovation on the Brooklyn Municipal Building. The project scope included two floors, totaling approximately 24,000SF. All of the tenants’ operations remained functional and some had to remain open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, throughout the project.

The project was faced with several delays including the impact of Hurricane Sandy, and changes in scope after the design was complete. Despite numerous challenges, AFG successfully resolved schedule disruptions, provided a quality product, and met end-user needs, resulting in project completion within the original 12-month period.

Held at The Yale Club of New York City, the CMAA Twenty First Awards Banquet featured key speaker Scott Stringer, NYC Comptroller. AFG’s winning project is in the competition’s “M/W/DBE Managed” category. Congratulations to AFG’s key team members: Perry Belfiore, Construction Superintendent; Pauline Fraser, Project Administrator; Justin Vassas, Project Manager; Lew Ayers, Project Director; and Joe Hoffman, Sr. Project Development.

“AFG continues our dedication to the NYC construction industry, using the CMAA Standards of Practice to provide our clients with superior performance. This award is especially meaningful as it comes from CM peers acknowledging our efforts. AFG is honored to receive this outstanding industry recognition.”
