AFG DoD SME, John Crossen, MPA, Esq, PE, LEED AP Named SAME Hampton Roads President-Elect

John Crossen, PE, Esq, LEED AP, AFG Department of Defense Director of Operations (DoD) has been elected President-Elect for the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), Hampton Roads Post. In this capacity, he will follow in the footsteps of his predecessors by expanding Industry-Government Engagement, guiding and supporting the Post’s committee missions and the Small Business Conference, and implementing new missions and activities. Crossen will then serve as Post President from June 2024 to June 2025.

John Crossen is a Subject Matter Expert with DoD Installations and Facilities, especially environmental programs. As the AFG DoD Operations and Projects Director, he is focused on expanding AFG’s DoD portfolio nationwide, fostering existing and new partnerships, and introducing new opportunities to the firm in new fields.

He is widely recognized for his work with the U.S. Army ACSIM/USACE and U.S. Navy NAVFAC BRAC Offices. As a BRAC Program Manager for both, he led the efforts to remediate former Navy bases, close Army bases and redevelop several Army bases, such as Forts Belvoir and Eustis. He is a former Naval Surface Warfare Officer, NAVFAC and ACSIM GS Civilian and for nearly a decade served as the founder and Senior Managing Partner of the consulting firm, Integrated Enterprise Facilitators.

For his service and expertise, John is the recipient of numerous awards including the Meritorious Civilian Service Award and Armed Forces Service Medal from the Department of the Navy, and most recently the 2021 Regional Vice President Medal from the Society of American Military Engineers Hampton Roads Post for his work with the Board of Directors. John holds a BA in American History and Government, a BS in Environmental Engineering, a Masters of Public Administration in Environmental Policy and Management, and a Juris Doctorate in Environmental Law.
