Since 2006, AFG has been providing comprehensive program and facility management support services to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Office of Research Operations. The scope of services has included strategic planning, design development, project management, cost estimating, acquisition services, and relocation management. One project in particular that AFG managed was one of NIAID’s largest consolidation efforts, which consisted of renovating approximately 32,000 SF of administrative office space; furniture planning and installation; and planning and relocating the 110 staff members.

AFG conducted the initial end-user interviews, prepared space programming, developed space standards, and prepared furniture and equipment inventories. Also, AFG prepared feasibility studies, blocking and stacking options, and provided test-fit studies. AFG coordinated with building landlord and leasing representatives, GSA designers of record, and GSA furniture vendors to develop various concepts and alternatives.

In addition, AFG developed cost estimates for demolition and build-out, procurement and installation of systems furniture and demountable wall systems, and associated move-out and occupancy costs related to swing space and temporary storage.
